It was almost a week before Christmas when my family to decided to take a road trip down to visit my grandma. She was living in a town called Bloomfield and had been begging us to spend the holiday at her place. So, with some slight degree of reluctance, my family packed all of their bags and climbed into the car, headed for grandma’s house. We tried to keep ourselves busy through conversation and even the occasional I-spy game but as we were driving along, we realized that something had to be done. Fortunately, I had remembered to bring along my IPOD, so we all entertained ourselves jamming out to the music and passing the time as best we could. The road was really long but, finally, we had only a few miles left to go. That’s about when my brother realized he had to use the bathroom – so we pulled over at a rest area and decided to take one last break before completing our journey. I was holding my IPOD at the time, carrying it with me as I explored the pit stop. It wasn’t the brightest idea, I suppose, but I really didn’t believe anything would happen to break it. Well… there was this really cool little stream bubbling through the garden area. I decided to take a closer look… and then I decided to hop onto one of the rocks. Of course I fell. I should have known what would happen but I guess my mind on the music and nothing else. I slipped off the rock and splashed right into the stream. My IPOD flew out of my hands and landed right smack on the concrete path. I guess I should be grateful it didn’t go into the water with me… but even still. I scrambled out of the stream, soaking wet, and realized that I had a cracked IPOD glass. You know the little LCD screen? Yeah… cracked. When my parents found out they told me not to worry – that they would take care of the IPOD repair and, sure enough, when we got to Grandma’s house they went online to look up any kind of way to fix apple lcd. What they actually found was a 1st generation IPHONE repairs and IPOD LCD replacement screen company. The place was equipped to repair damaged IPODs and replace any parts that needed attention – such as my broken screen. Mom and Dad wrapped up my IPOD and sent it off to the company, using Grandma’s address. I was really surprised when, not even a week later, we got it back in the mail. As you imagine, it was as good as new! I won’t be taking it with me next time I decide to jump on rocks, though.
